New Europe, new media partner
By Florian Mueck • Jul 16th, 2009 • Category: European Journalists, Top NewsBrussels-based New Europe - the European Weekly, and The Festival have agreed to launch a media partnership which will provide the newspaper with first-hand insights about active citizenship in Europe and promote The Festival movement among New Europe’s readers.
Ania Lara, Communications Manager of New Europe endorses the new partnership:
“We always look for good European stories. We were quite surprised to stumble across such a unique form of active citizenship. We mostly cover European political and economic affairs, but often go beyond the ‘politics to policy’ domain. I’m convinced that a socially driven initiative like The Festival will captivate the attention of our readers. Politicians, diplomats, international brands; in the end we have quite similar target groups. We are looking forward to working with The Festival team and help promote this fantastic initiative especially among decision makers in Brussels and beyond.”
About New Europe
New Europe - the European weekly, published since 1993, is a product carrying news and analyses from 49 countries with a particular emphasis on the EU institutions and EU-World relations. Its print edition is distributed to 66,000 readers in Europe and beyond, mainly focusing on Brussels EU Institutions, European Governments, international institutions, NGOs, and Think-tanks. In addition New Europe’s website has approximately 200,000 visitors per month.
Chief editor Alexandros Koronakis reflects that,
“New Europe started as a project called Balkan News back in 1992. It has today become one of the most powerful publications of the European realm, being read regularly by all the layers of the European pyramid. At the same time, NE reports on many countries which ‘even god has forgotten about’. NE serves as a window for all these countries to Europe, and a window from Europe to these regions. NE is not just a newspaper, but a tool. A tool for work, a tool for research, or simply a tool to keep in touch with back home for many expats. Most importantly, NE is known and respected for its European ideals: Transparency, Democracy, and Dialogue at all levels. This is what we believe in and advocate for.”

Florian Mueck is European, initiator and co-founder of The Festival: "Passion for Europe maybe does not exist in the media. But it does exist in many hearts of many people."
